It has been applied to the BACK of the bow, but the bow has been tied into reflex for the sinewing process.

Is that the way its done all the time or only to induce reflex...I am new to this topic although have made a few bows which aren't exactally perfect....thanks...

Albert: Probably most modern sinewed bow are not pulled and held in reflex as the sinew is applied and dried. The sinew is just as protective on such bows. But the small increase in stored energy...

Sharparrows: Hide glue gells to quickly in cool air, and the just sinewed surface dries too quickly in dry air--too quickly compared to the inner glue, that is. It's best by far to sinew in warm, damp...

From the other discussion about humidity and wood strength, a bow backed with sinew would be strongest at 0% moisture content?

DWT: Remember that 1.5 oz was dry, processed sinew. All shredded and ready to apply. That 1.5oz started out as up to 3oz of raw backstrap--sometimes there's a lot of waste while shredding. And often...
